About HENOD

The Health Education Network of Delaware (HENOD) is a professional organization dedicated to improving the practice of health education and health promotion in Delaware. Members represent a variety of disciplines - health educators, health promotion specialists, school health, fitness professionals, public health workers, registered dietitians, nurses, lay volunteers - anyone involved with promoting positive health and preventing illness.

We offer opportunities for members to network, pursue continuing education, and advocate for policy changes that promote improved health and well-being. For more than 10 years, HENOD has provided educational membership meetings, networking opportunities, and resources to our members.

HENOD was founded in early 1997 by a small group of dedicated health professionals and volunteers. In 2009, HENOD merged with the Delaware Public Health Association (DPHA), and is now the Delaware affiliate of the American Public Health Association.

From the President

There are some exciting changes for the Health Education Network of Delaware (HENOD) in the works, and we hope you will consider joining our organization. For the past several months, HENOD has been on hiatus, but we're ready to resume offering programs and networking opportunities - at no cost through 2011!

The current leadership is working to inject new blood and energy into the organization so it can once again flourish. To that end, we are waiving the annual dues requirement ($15/year) for 2011.

We've also launched a revamped website with a fresh look and are in the midst of planning a free social event for members. A fall educational workshop will be offered and we plan to resume annual conferences, which in the past featured well-known speakers and cutting edge sessions.

We've experienced some recent growing pains, however, our hope is that HENOD will continue to afford its members the opportunity to network, share best practices and grow professionally. The current leadership is willing to extend their terms until new members interested in leadership roles can be identified.

Please consider joining by completing the New Member Form. (Past members also need to complete this form to be added to our contact list.) Help us increase our membership base by encouraging your co-workers and colleagues to join before annual dues resume in January 2012.

Best regards,

Marianne Carter
