The 2005 HENOD Annual Conference, held October 14th at Buena Vista, focused on "Obesity and the Media."
The featured speaker was Margot Wooten from the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI). This year's conference was a half-day training session, attended by 43 people.
Margo Wootan's conference presentation was: "What Marketers Are Feeding Our Kids:
The Link between Food Marketing and Obesity." She is the director of nutrition policy at CSPI, one of the country’s leading health advocacy organizations, specializing in nutrition and obesity. Ms. Wootan’s work has improved food labeling for trans fat and fast food products.
Other presenters included Delaware independent filmmaker Joseph Piner, who screened his first full-length documentary Shape Up America; and Dr. Avron Abraham, speaking about the Division of Public Health's "Get Up and Do Something" campaign.
