State Physical Activity
and Healthy Nutrition Plan
Blueprint for a Healthier Delaware: Promoting Physical Activity and Healthy Nutrition was originally released on November 19, 2002. Efforts are now underway to revise this plan during 2008.
Lt. Gov. John C. Carney wrote an introduction and released the plan at a statewide diabetes conference. In releasing the plan, he noted the close relationship between diabetes prevention and control and efforts to promote physical activity and healthy nutrition.
The Blueprint for a Healthier Delaware is now out of print; but it can be downloaded in PDF format from this site. It is available either as the complete report (a large file suitable for downloading only with a broadband connection) or by chapter. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader® to view or print these documents.
Blueprint for a Healthier Delaware: the 2010 PAHN Plan:
The strategic planning process was sponsored by the Delaware Coalition to Promote Physical Activity and Healthy Nutrition (DCPPAHN); the Governor's Council on Lifestyle and Fitness; the Lieutenant Governor's Challenge; Delaware Health and Social Services, Division of Public Health (DPH) and Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities (DSAAPD); and the Health Education Network of Delaware (HENOD).
This plan was designed to be a working guide for all organizations and agencies in Delaware working to promote physical activity and nutrition. The plan promotes coordination and collaboration to make existing programs more effective, to help fill gaps and overcome barriers.
