Virginia Corrigan Receives
2004 HENOD Advocacy Award

Virginia Corrigan is the director of the Think First Delaware, a chapter of the National Injury Prevention Foundation. She has contributed and advocated not only for the prevention of injuries, asthma, and violence prevention but has donated countless hours to a diverse number of community organizations to promote health to the community.

Virginia has played a leadership role in the Safe Kids Coalition, and is a board member for the State Brain Injury Prevention Committee, Delaware Injury Prevention Coalition; and she chairs the Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Prevention Sub-Committee. As a board member of Emergency Medical Services for Children, she has partnered injury victims with the community to educate the community on many health initiatives.

She has volunteered for countless organizations including the American Lung Association ( ALA). Her volunteer work included the development and delivery of programs for school nurses, camp counselors, DuPont Hospital for Children, and Peoples Settlement.

She precepts and mentors graduate and undergraduate nursing and health students in community health fields.

She received a University of Delaware Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement, and was selected as a Healthy Delaware 2010 Hero for dedication and outstanding achievement in the prevention of injury and disabilities.
